Tithing Sunday

Here’s something I learned at an independent church I was consulting a while back. They got the idea from a local newspaper. It’s the idea of having a “tithe one Sunday” campaign. For several weeks, you advertise and give everyone the challenge to tithe their weekly income just one Sunday. The following week, they report the total income of the church and everybody can see the difference. In addition, people get to try it, and many continue. Giving goes up. Think about that–something so easy and so profound with immediate results. Don’t forget to advertise it for several weeks in advance and explain it thoroughly. Make sure your guests understand the church is not all about wanting their money.
