Pizza Prophet
The Jesus Enterprise is great. I have a friend who started his own enterprise ministry. He lives in a small town where there is “nothing to do”. So he opened a family pizza place just down the street from his church. He hires teens from his church as servers. He trains them to know that they are not only serving pizza, they are also serving Christ as they serve others. He says he has established great relationships with many people who have never been to a church in their life. Some of the regular customers have started attending his church and some have received Christ as Savior!

What an outstanding witness! This probably reaches people who would not ordinarily be drawn to a church building. Kind of like the old “bait and switch”. Bait them with pizza, switch them to the gospel!

One of the ways we have experienced the Jesus Enterprise is with the launching of a Training Institute at the local church. Our Institute provides a series of 10 module classes which help prepare a person for ministry. At the conclusion of the 2 year program, the ministry candidate is better prepared to meet the many demands of ministry. The Institute has assisted over 100 people during the first 4 years of existence with 20+ earning certificates of completion. The benefit is that we are seeing new ministries starting up as a result of these trained ministers who launch into their God-called areas of service. In the host local church, there are now 4 assistants on staff who have been through the program and three more taking classes. Results are not fast, but now after 4 years we are seeing the result of this investment into future ministries and leaders.

Thanks for this innovative website, it will be very helpful. Our church, St. John Lutheran, in Ellisville, MO, is doing a Neighborhood VBS next week, headed by our student minister (vicar) and many volunteers. It will be held at a local park in the neighborhood and 500 invitations were sent to the residents so pray that we get a good turnout and a positive experience…Jesus will be there for sure!
